How We Got There<\/p>\n

Lisa’s\u00a0smile makeover<\/strong>\u00a0was a hit according to both contest judges and the voting people walking the trade floor in Honolulu, HI in 2002. Lisa chose to have me make the magic. As a result, she and I won the highest honors possible: the People’s Choice Award and a Gold Award in the Annual Smile Gallery Contest with the\u00a0American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry<\/a>\u00a0in Honolulu, HI.<\/p>\n

Lisa’s happiness is mine, too! You can see why from where we started. Lisa had been searching for solutions and had already attempted to solve some of her dental issues over the past few years. She was satisfied that she was not done yet. I had just recently completed a smile design on her sister,\u00a0Lori<\/a>, who was ecstatic about the results. That’s when Lisa scheduled her initial appointment with me. I discovered some other issues were potentially associated with how her teeth fit together chewing and talking. What about her\u00a0tension headaches<\/a>and neck pain? She had been told in the past that this was a normal part of aging and that she would have to adjust. It was my goal to determine if there was a connection between her pain syndrome and oral function as well as fulfill her aesthetic wish list.<\/p>\n

Lisa enthusiastically moved forward with diagnostic and corrective plans. She had a gummy smile, which was corrected through\u00a0\u00a0orthodontics<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0laser gum recontouring<\/a>. Notice how short her teeth appear in the initial photo. This was addressed with the gum recontouring and placement of\u00a0\u00a0veneers<\/a>\u00a0where I resized the teeth to fit with her facial proportions. Because her bite was over-closed, her muscles did not like the situation. They gave her all kinds of fits, such as muscle spasm, which led to frequent headaches and pain. I built her new teeth up to the point her muscles said, “Yes!” She, I, and her muscles have since been glad that we agreed on the current position!<\/p>\n

After we came to the end of our treatment journey, notice how the full-face photographs show up a difference even in the appearance of the face–softer eyes, longer face, cleaner facial lines from the cheek bones to the chin–and the smile speaks for itself. Most of all, she says she no longer experiences head and neck pain!<\/p>\n
