Lori wasn’t happy with her two front teeth. The blue gum line just had to go. As a dental hygienist and the wife of a prominent Santa Rosa endodontist, she was very sensitive about her dental presentation. What she wanted was to simply replace her two front porcelain and metal (PFM)\u00a0crowns\u00a0with something more natural and attractive.<\/p>\n

As I completed her exam and we talked, she realized that in order to reach her goals, there was another way to go. I recommended a full smile reconstruction to address the short-tooth factor that is quite evident when I looked at the shape of the tooth and the length of her lower face. I could tell that she was closing her mouth too far in order to chew, talk, or rest her jaw.<\/p>\n

Together, we decided there would be several other considerations that would dramatically improve her smile. Her two front teeth were too large and out of proportion to her face. Her gum line was low, which pulled her upper lip downward, closing her face. We wanted to elevate and even her gum line, broaden her upper arch, and length her teeth all of which would open her face, giving the appearance of a face lift. Following full\u00a0gum recontouring\u00a0and healing, the two front Porcelain and metal crowns were replaced with\u00a0all-ceramic crowns<\/strong>\u00a0and the remaining ten front teeth were enhanced with\u00a0ceramic veneers.
