Drill-Free Dentistry

Drill-free Cosmetic Dentistry

Our Santa Rosa, CA office serves Sonoma County & the Bay Area including San Francisco, Petaluma, Napa

Using a modern diagnostic tool called Diagnodent, Dr. Klim can detect cavities before they become visible on an x-ray or to the naked eye. This allows him to repair tooth decay without a drill.

The pits and grooves on the biting surface of teeth often serve as plaque traps and pathways for bacteria to invade the inside of a tooth. This, in turn, leads to the development of cavities. Early diagnosis and treatment arrests the spread of decay and thus prolongs the life of the tooth. Regardless of the size of the affected tooth structure, decay may be swept away with the air abrasion technique and corrected by bonded ceramics, which seal the tooth against further bacterial invasion.

Find Out About Decay Before You Can See It!

With the modern-day diagnostic tool, the Diagnodent, you will find out about decay before it has a chance to develop into a major issue-even before it is visible on the tooth or an x-ray.

Cavities Almost Always Under Stained Pits and Fissures

A 5-year study found that cavities were almost always present under stained pits and fissures in non-smokers. Study performed by Clinical Research Associates (CRA).

Decay Caught With It’s Hands Up!

An air abrasion technology that uses no drilling is used to reveal what is underneath that stained pit and fissure. Even though this cavity was at an advanced stage, it was not causing the patient any symptoms yet. With the Diagnodent, we detect and intercept the problem before it causes problems for this patient. You can see the red decay-indicating dye is used to verify diseased tooth structure. This must be removed before a restoration will bond successfully to the tooth.

Clean Bill of Health

Here the teeth are cleansed of disease and are ready for bonding. With today’s technology, teeth can be bonded back together with strengths that are nearly equal to natural tooth strength. Because the new materials bond to teeth more thoroughly than dentistry of the past, it is possible to preserve more tooth structure while we are preparing the tooth for its corrected state. It used to be that, due to the nature of amalgam fillings and metal-based crowns, more drilling and filing was required to ensure that the cement had enough surface area to maintain its grip for a predictable period of time.

Only Your Dentist Knows for Sure!
The restored teeth! Who would know that you were not born with these beautiful cusps? I’m sure you agree, the teeth appear very natural. Yet, beyond the natural look, you will have reclaimed a tooth at risk, recaptured tooth strength, and sealed your tooth from further bacterial invasion. Now, that is something to be happy about.

Our office is located in Santa Rosa, but we welcome patients in from San Francisco, Sonoma County & Bay Area.
