What is CAD/CAM Dentistry?
Here at Dr. Klim’s office you often hear a machine grinding away at a piece of ceramic. That means a new crown, veneer, or ceramic filling is being machined right here in the office because we integrated CAD/CAM technology into our brand of dentistry.
You may be asking yourself–What is CAD/CAM and how does it benefit me…at the dental office of all places!?
CAD/CAM stands for Computer-Aided Design & Computer-Aided Manufacturing. And this is how we have combined it with our dentistry:
-
We remove decay & prepare your tooth, then use a specialized 3D camera to scan the prepped teeth.
-
Dr. Klim designs a 3D image of your new crown on a high-tech computer (CAD).
-
He transfers the design to an onsite milling unit.
-
The machine manufactures your new restoration (CAM) from a high-strength, bio-compatible glass ceramic.
How our CAD/CAM dentistry benefits you:
This procedure is often finished in one visit. Dr. Klim cements your new crown at the same appointment. That means we fit into your schedule so you need…only one trip to our office…only one extra-long lunch break from work…only one time asking the babysitter to stay late…you get the idea. Your time is valuable and we take your commitment to us seriously.
You may not realize it, but we’ve utilized this technology for years. Dr. Klim teaches CAD/CAM & advanced dental concepts all over the world. We love using CAD/CAM at our office! So the next time you come in and hear that wonderful, confusing whir of our CAD/CAM machine–you know that’s the new sound of dentistry.
